Is a little extra from you and I too much to ask? what exactly went wrong? where is the love? at what point did we the human race turn to chaos? how blind have we turned to see that the ones we hurt are you and me.

A little care from you and I will sure make a difference in our immediate environment. Starting from home, schools, offices and places of worship. Let's save our world and save ourselves. Let's create a better environment for which you and I truly need.

When hubby comes home from work. #justl'maril

So when your man comes home from work how do u greet him?
When he comes home from that long day of work I guess you greet him with smiles, hugs, kisses and massage huh? Not like a full blown massage, more of rubbing his shoulders and back over his clothes to lossing the stress from the hard day at work is what I mean.

All women should know this pls. You better make sure you have your man's drink waiting on him before he walks through that door. There is no greater way to help a man unwind from his long day than a glass of chilled drink waiting on him. It could be something as simple as home made  fruit drinks. Of course pressent him his drink along with a kiss if you know what I mean.l
If your man had a bad day at work and he is angry and ready to go crazy, girl you better get your crazy on and make him forget that bad day. Let him feel your love and appreciation. When he arrives home is time to eliminate all the noise. Things like washers, TV or vacuum should be a no no at the time of hubby's arrival. Put your phones away and give him your full attention. Even the kids should know that when daddy is home they are to be quiet or less noisy.
Most men are hungry when they come home so have his dinner ready and waiting. Always dress up sexy at the time of hubby's arrival. Pull your hair down and be fresh looking, interesting and entertaining. Turn on music if that's one of his pleasures and give him the cutest dance show ever, that will definitely lift up his spirit. But allow him to rest after.
Sometimes though, when the two of you as a couple are in a fight and you are still angry after the fight, you dont feel like pleasing him, you probably want to strangle or constrict his neck because you are not happy with him. lolz! Yeah i get that. But here is an advice, never ever take any fight between the two of you seriously that way you will be able to handle the situation really well.
Even if you find your husband cheating, yes punish him. But dont forget that men are polygamous in nature and at the end of the day you want to be that one woman he cant compare to another. Also remember you are a team, so you should still try to make things work. Show your power as a woman, the soft, soothing and pleasant side of you shouldn't disappear. Your husband will respect you for that and he will be forever sorry for hurting you plus your relationship can only get better.
And then he will want to come home everyday because he rather be with you than anyone else in the world. You want him to be on your side but not by pressure or moral obligation.
The goal here is to make your home a peaceful place where both of you can enjoy each other and your husband after a long hard day at work, can renew himself in body and spirit.
Good luck !
Note: NO woman is perfect, I am not either. This is #justl'marilsaying.

Drop that zero and get you a hero.

Ok so that sweet tooth and the cravings of things we are aware is doing harm to the body. We all know we shldnt be eating junk foods but for some unknown reasons we keep eating anyway. And sometimes we want to stop but we just don't know how to.
What's with the belly fats?ughhhh! And the chubby cheecks, yugkhhhh! Belly fats got to go because I need my sexy back.
So today I decided to "drop the zero and get me a hero".

Join me in the 90 days challenge, starting today 20/12/2015.
To work out as much as i can mornings and or evenings, yes am determined to stick to it.
A glass of water first thing early every morning, and as much as i can daily, to get the toxic out of my system.
Salads, fruits, beans, sweet potatoes, fish, boild plantains. These are basically what's on my diet list.
Fatty foods and junks Such as....
Fries, pizzas, burgers, ice creams, or any dairy products at this point is a hell NO! NO! For this challenge.
I am going to take control of my life and live the healthy way because I say so. This is my attitude for the 90 days challenge and am changing steps to turning this attitude into action.

I've set aside a goal of at least 6000 steps every morning, and yes I sure did achieved it this morning. And  there is a photo down here to prove it.
So who's with me? Let's do it.
Note: I am not a proffesional on dieting , weight loss or healthy leaving. I am just l'maril with the drop that zero and get you a hero challenge. *winks

Masa #yumyum

Masa is a Northern delicacy that is routinely eaten in the northern part of Nigeria. It is made out of rice and other ingredients traditionally made into an oval shape.  It is very common serving masa in weddings and naming ceremonies in the north.
Masa is usually served with a kind of  vegetable soup called 'taushe' or sometimes eaten with 'yaji' a mixture of dry papper and spices blended into powdered form. In my household, masa is served as breakfast especially during the weekends or as snacks in between meals. This is a tradition in most households too.
So like every other saturday, today we had masa for snacks but not the typical traditional way, i added a little bit of modern twist. I made a grilled chicken shredded with a lot of onions as a filling for the masa. I sliced each masa half way and filled it up with the delicious chicken filling i made and yes The kids loved it they couldn't  stop asking for more.

The spirit of giving

Charity is preached in every religion of the world. We all have the spirit of giving in us. We try to give out some portion of what we have to parents, relatives, neighbours the poor and the debilitated.

If you are a true believer of you religion, you are always prepared after meeting the needs of your family, to also assist those in need of your help. Because every religion preaches charity.

The spirit of kindness and well wishing is the essence of charity and the giver does not expect any  reward from the beneficiary. In islam charity (zakkat) is the third pillar of Islam. It is an obligation for those who received their wealth from God to response to those members of the community in need.

Today's CD day was amazing, myself and my CD group members paid a visit to 2 charity homes. Some of the stories we were told moved most of us to tears, but the overall experience was so amazing and really inspiring. It made me want to go on more charity trips.

There was this little babay  I fell in love with? She's Deaf but her smiles was breathtaking and her eyes sparkles. Instantly i felt I wanted to take her home with me. But who knows, I could go back for her. Lolz!

Let's keep on giving. The more you give, the more you get. When you take care of others God takes care of you

forever

MY FOREVER...
It is a cold night on a dark deserted highway. Indeed a still night, the leaves & flowers barely  move.
The whitest gray fog is dense like wet cigarette ashes rising from the bitter brown earth as I trod on a lonely path.
Suddenly, a figure emerges & there stands my FOREVER as my heart skips a beat & the rhythm changes to an upbeat. MY FOREVER...
Its unbelievable as my eyes sights the incomparable, I am now vulnerable as he approaches, lost in perhaps Lust as he steps even closer holding my breath & sighing heavily, his smell, Oh that smell. This is my FOREVER
Amazingly the air becomes fresher, the atmosphere brighter & more colorful, living now makes more sense. He is my FOREVER...
And face to face, toe to toe, lips brushing mine, eyes bright like a phoenix, leaving me breathless. MY FOREVER.
Tragedy then strikes, darkness befalls mother nature, the air is toxic, vision blurs as everything suddenly disappears. Where is my FOREVER? Only pain is left, though sweet pain as I reminisce on the moments.
Now I wonder. But wait... Is there ever my FOREVER or just my imagination, may be my FOREVER is too good to be true. But deep down inside me, I know there can never be another FOREVER...

I am never gona grow up

That little girl inside stays true
She's cute and innocent
She doesn't change
She is always the same
I am still that little girl
I am never gona grow up
Don't tell me not pick my nose
Because it looks childish and yucky
Or not to laugh out loud in public
Because it's un lady like
I am that little girl
I am never gona grow up
I want to ride my bike
Jump in muddy puddles
I want to have food fights
Play hide and seek
Scream and shout and run around
Go to sleep succking my thumb
I am that little girl
I am never gona grow up
I maybe 30, 40 or even 50 years old
I maybe a wife and a mother
But the little girl inside still stays true
And I promise
I am never gona grow up.
Don't grow up
Its a trap.

A Visit to FGGC yola. #goodoldmemorries

First let me start by saying the maroon and white colors brought back the most amazing memories.
My days at FGGC Yola, I would say, are one of the best days of my life if not the best. The six years I spent were phenomenal.
Everytime I'm in yola I never miss an opportunity to go and reminisce on the good old days. So recently I was in Yola and I decided to show up at the school.
I met a few staff that I still remember and of course they very well remembered me. Everybody knew me back then. I wouldn't say I was naughty, ok, well maybe just a little, lolz.
So I went round the school, took my son on a tour to show him this place that was part of my childhood. At first he was a little bored but then he got interested when some of the staff where telling him all the stories. But he kept asking why there was red sand everywhere.
I also spotted the window I used to jump out of every time the maths Teacher came into class. Yeah, I never liked maths. Lol.

I met some few students as I was going round. Spoke to them a little and took some photos. I was looking at them and at the back of my mind I was thinking was this how I looked in the uniform back then? Lol.
I later sat with the principal Mrs zulekatu usman momodu, and had a little chat. She was very welcoming, calm and very nice. And I was telling her all the stories of way back when and how in love we were with the then principal, Aisha Bello.
It was fun sitting in the principal's office relaxed and comfortable because back then if you found yourself in the principal's office, then you probably were in trouble. It was definitely a no go area.

I was also telling the principal about the modern Arewa initiative and she got interested as I asked to have a little interview with some students and so she arranged for some of the girls to get ready for it.  While the girls were getting ready, I had to leave for some important work with the plan of coming back to do the interview with the girls that day, but Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish up on time to make it happen. I was so sad I had no time to come back the following day because I left for Lagos.
I hope to go back soon Insha Allah. Of course yola is where my heart is๐Ÿ’œ.
Enjoy few photos from that day at the school.

A horrific experience

On Thursday 5th November my husband dropped me off and my 10yr old at the airport to catch our plane heading to yola via Abuja for my sister's wedding.
As we boarded the medview aircraft and I was already on my sit next to my son Amir. I suddenly started to panic and I was feeling almost breathless. I didn't know what to do so I reached out to my phone which was already switched off, i switched it on, and called up my husband.
Hubby picked up and I told him I needed to get off the plane because I was having anxiety issues. Being my husband he is use to all these, as I am one woman with fear of the unknown. He calmed me down and convinced me that everything was going to be OK.
I sat back trying not to think too much. I held my son's hand as the plane took off. About 10 to 15 minutes into the journey, I noticed I was sweating and so was my son. It became clear that the air conditioning system wasn't working and breathing became difficult. it felt like there was no pressure in the cabin.
Suddenly the oxygen masks dropped out of the compartment above us and the cabin crew announced that we should quickly use the masks.
I was shaking out of fear and everyone else was panicking and confused. I wore my mask and helped Amir with his.
My heart was racing and all I could think of was my 10yr old. The worst part was that most of the masks had no oxygen coming out. It took a while for me to realise that my son's mask had no oxygen and I imidiately removed mine and tied it over his head.

As an asthma patient, I reached out for my inhaler which was in my bag and  after a while I had to share the oxygen mask with my son.
I could hear a baby crying and the mother calling for help, the baby needed air and I was shocked all the flight attendants were not seen anywhere on the aisle. Few seconds later one of the crew finally went over to assist the woman and her baby.
Amir was so scared and I kept telling him that everything will be OK.  I had no choice but to stay strong for him. I held him close to me as I pray.
The plane had to make an emergency landing back to lagos and we landed safely. This is an experience I will never forget.
This incident made me realised how one minute you are OK and the next minute you are gone.  It made me cherish life more and thought me never to take people or anything for granted henceforth.
I Thank God Almighty for letting me, my son and all those with me on the plane see yet another day. And may we never experience such horrible incident for the rest of our lives. I pray no one should ever go through this.

I am Arewa

From the amazing rocks of the three sisters in yola,
To the beautiful mountains of mambila,
I am Arewa and I belong here.

From the groundnut pyramid in kano,
To the Great Wall of queen Amina,
I am Arewa and I belong here.

I am Fulani proud,
Hausa loud,
Kanuri tall,
Tiv strong,
I am Arewa and here is where I belong.

So who are you to come and try to destroy my land?
Am sorry you can't.
Because I am Arewa and I belong here.

My fura da nono is what makes me Me.
I belong here.
I am Arewa,
Northern Nigeria,
Beautiful peaceful people.

The ancient city of kano

Kano is the commercial nerve centre in Northern Nigeria and is the second largest city in Nigeria after lagos.

Coming from yola, people in kano are more bussier going about their daily activities and businesses compare to people in yola. The market in kano is a lot more crowded and I like how you can basically get everything you are looking for and more.

Growing up, kano was my second home after yola.  Every holiday especially during summer, Dad will take us with him to kano and we use to get happy and excited to go on the journey. The best part of being in kano is when Dad drives us out to places like hangout, lamazon, roxy amusement park. Also other historical places like dala hills, gidan makama e.t.c.

I am not sure if some of these places still stand today though, because I've not visited kano most of my adult life.
But one thing for sure is my love for kano will never die as it has some of the best memories of my childhood and especially of the quality times I spent with my dad.
I love kano city. I love my Modern Arewa.
