The ancient city of kano

Kano is the commercial nerve centre in Northern Nigeria and is the second largest city in Nigeria after lagos.

Coming from yola, people in kano are more bussier going about their daily activities and businesses compare to people in yola. The market in kano is a lot more crowded and I like how you can basically get everything you are looking for and more.

Growing up, kano was my second home after yola.  Every holiday especially during summer, Dad will take us with him to kano and we use to get happy and excited to go on the journey. The best part of being in kano is when Dad drives us out to places like hangout, lamazon, roxy amusement park. Also other historical places like dala hills, gidan makama e.t.c.

I am not sure if some of these places still stand today though, because I've not visited kano most of my adult life.
But one thing for sure is my love for kano will never die as it has some of the best memories of my childhood and especially of the quality times I spent with my dad.
I love kano city. I love my Modern Arewa.

Finding happiness.

My definition of happiness is the ability to deal with problems. Looking at what you have instead of what you have lost. What you do with what you have left not what the world takes away from you is what happiness means to me.
Pain is part of growing, sometimes life closes doors for us to move forward which is a good thing because we often won't move forward unless circumstances forces us to. In tough times always remember every circumstance is temporary. After every darkness there is light.

If things are bad right now, don't worry because it won't last for ever. Worrying won't change the situation it can only worsen it. Don't be ashamed of the scars life has left you with. It only means that the hurt and pain is over and the wound has healed. It also means that you have learned a lesson, grew stronger and moved forward.
I have learned that you can't force things to happen you can only drive yourself nuts trying. I learned to let go and let what's meant to be BE. Cherishing memories and learning through experience is one of my biggest lessons in life.
I've learned not to be afraid to get back up, not to be afraid to love again, not to let the cracks in my heart turn to hardened scar tissue. I've learned to find the strength to laugh every day and make others smile too.
Happiness is fighting your inner darkness to find your inner peace.

Naija roars summer sports/fiesta

One day myself and a very good friend of mine who also happened to be my next door neighbour came up with an idea. And imediately we started implementing it.
Kids in my estate are always around our houses and i think probably because of how we relate with them and for sure its also because of how welcoming and approachable we are. There is this special bonding and connection with each child. I personally like talking to them and telling them stories of when I was little just like them and things like that.
So me and Nimisha (my next door neighbor )  were discussing on what we can do with these kids this summer just to keep them busy.  Then we decided we will bring them together, organise an event that include sports, talent shows, fashion shows, drama, singing and dancing all by the kids.
We then spoke to estate management and few parents and the feed back was possitive. So we went ahead with the process. We imidiately started rehearsals with the kids.
When the kids were told about the event you could see their little bright faces full of passion and excitements and they were so ready to do it. That was how Naija roars summer sports/feista was born.
The sports day took place on the 15th August 2015 and the feista day was a week later which was on the 22nd August 2015. Everything went really well. Kids had fun, parents came out and supported. The Kids were presented with their medals and prizes. Every one had fun and there was so much to eat and drink.
A big thank you to all the parents that supported the event. Especially Dr Kemi, Mrs Akindele, Mrs Bola, and Mrs Okunlola (top Angel) for their immense   participation. Also A big thanks goes to our husbands Mr patil and Alhj jibril Buba, without their support and consent we would not be able to do this.
Also thanks to Domino's for the free pizzas. Thanks to Nimisha Patil the co-founder, without her this wouldn't have happened. Both of us worked really hard in making the event a reality. I am extremely excited at our ingenuity, doggedness and resilience.
Looking forward to Naija roars 2016.

A perfect example of how a first lady should be

When I came across this news yesterday I got the goose bumps and  I couldn't be prouder. And I got more inspired.
Kebbi state first lady Dr Zainab Bagudu A trained doctor was seen consulting at the sir yahya general hospital Birnin Kebbi few days ago.
Now this is a perfect example of how a first lady should be.

I  had a lot of only possitive things about her years before she became the first lady. Few people I spoke to who new her personally only spoke about how lovable she is.
She had always been a heroine even before she became the first lady. She ran an NGO that helped and is still helping a lot of sick people that needed medical attention especially cancer patients.
I never met her but I had the opportunity of speaking to her one time on phone. She had that  calmed moderly voice, and was very friendly. I thought to myself this is definitely a woman I hope to meet in person someday.

She is one woman to look up to and hopefully other first ladies will learn a thing or two from this amazing soul. We are glad that she is our very own Modern Arewa, and am proud to say this is the true identity of the northern Nigeria.
Keep up the good work your excellency in moving the Arewa Nation and our dear country Nigeria forward. We salute you.
