Ok so am just an ordinary everyday woman living in Lagos Nigeria, a mother and a wife. a Bsc holder in mass communication.
Coming from the northern part of Nigeria, i am really passionate about my Arewa so I named this blog "Modern Arewa". The word "Arewa" means "North" in Hausa language generally spoken in the northern Nigeria. Today's Northern Nigeria and it's people is totally different from that of yesterday. my life now as a wife and a mother is way different from that of my mum's.
Everyday when kids are away at school and hubby at work, for the whole 8hrs before I go get the kids from school, home gets a little bored as most of the time all I do is nap the whole day away except if I've got some research to do or somewhere to go. So I created this little space and hopefully i will start napping a little less soon. Also just so you know I am not a proffesional writer I am more of a talker so excuse my writing skills pls. Lol.
I recently discovered yoga. My next door neighbor who is an Indian volunteered to teach me, so we decided to include yoga in our daily routine even though we don't really do it daily but we try doing it at least 4 times a week morning hours when kids are away at school. I find yoga interesting and a lot helpful health wise even though we've not reached the extreme yoga level. For now we are exploring the different types of breathing exercises which kinda helps with my migraines and gives me a refreshing feeling each time.
My philosophy in life is "start where you are, use what you have and do what you can. When you learn teach". You could say I am a feminist. I don't believe that women are inferior. I believe women have special abilities and should be given equal opportunities as men. I trust my own judgements and opinions and I keep my life focused in believing in myself. I listen to my intuition and I know how brilliant my inner wisdom is.
I strongly believe in God. I pray five times a day and these are times I get to connect with God. I also connect with God through beauty, silence, laughter, people and good deeds. Believing in God comes from within.
the modern Arewa woman is beautiful, confident, capable and modest.
Thank you for going through my blog hope you will keep checking in for a lot more about this "Modern Arewa" woman and her people. I am because you are.
